Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy
If you are experiencing muscle spasms in your body, cryotherapy can help. We use cryotherapy treatments in our Bellevue, WA Crossroads Chiropractic office to give your affected soft tissues cooling relief and numb areas of your body that are painful. We constrict your blood vessels and reduce your skin's temperature by applying cold compresses to the affected areas.

Cryotherapy is perfect for reducing swelling from a soft tissue injury and prevents further injury while you are going through your healing process. It's an affordable therapy that Dr. Steven Kaplan performs right here in our office.

How Cryotherapy Works
This therapy uses a cryoprobe (needle-like applicator), imaging guidance and argon gas or liquid nitrogen to freeze and eliminate cancer cells and diseased tissue. A number of different skin conditions can be treated with this treatment as well as tumors in bones, kidneys, breasts, lungs and liver.

Common Uses of Cryotherapy
Our Bellevue, WA chiropractor, Dr. Kaplan, applies cryotherapy on your skin surface topically, by injection/needle biopsy or surgically. If you have eye and skin lesions, he uses topical cryotherapy. If your lesion is underneath your skin surface, he uses a needle-like applicator or probe to penetrate through your skin. Surgical cryotherapy is for extreme cases only.

Dr. Kaplan uses cryotherapy to treat:
  • Nodules
  • Skin Tumors
  • Skin Tags
  • Precancerous Skin Moles
  • Unattractive Freckles
  • Cervical, Prostate or Liver Cancers
  • Retinoblastomas
He also uses this therapy to treat tumors in your other body parts like your bones and spine, kidneys, breasts and lungs. This therapy has been shown to be very effective for most people.

Spinal Decompression

If you experience back pain among other related symptoms, you know how debilitating it can be and the impact it can have on your quality of life. Spinal decompression is what some individuals turn to. There are things you should know before deciding if it's right for you.

Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression: What is It?
Nonsurgical spinal decompression is a kind of motorized traction which will assist with back pain. Spinal decompression will work by stretching the spine gently, which will change the position and force involving the spine. This type of change will take the pressure right off the spinal disks, which are gel-like type of cushions, located in between the bones that are located in the spine, which creates a negative pressure within the disc. This will result in herniated or bulging discs which retract and take pressure off the nerves, as well as other structures of the spine. This will assist with movement of nutrient-filled fluids, oxygen, and water in the disks to help them heal.

How It's Done
During the spinal decompression therapy, you will be fully clothes. The doctor will put a fitted harness around your trunk and pelvis. You will either lie face up or face down on a computer-controlled table. The doctor will operate the computer and will customize the treatment to meet your specific needs. The treatment typically lasts around 30-45 minutes, and you may need 20-28 treatments over a time period of 5-7 weeks. Prior to or following therapy, you may need other treatments, such as:
  • Heat or cold therapy
  • Ultrasound
  • Electrical stimulation

Crossroads Chiropractic Center Has Treated Many Patients with Lower Back Pain

The lumbar vertebrae in the lower back are larger than any others in the spine and are responsible for supporting the weight of the upper body. Although these vertebrae are strong enough to withstand powerful forces from the lower back muscles during lifting, bending and twisting, it is common to experience lower back pain and injuries. Those experiencing pain in their lower back can turn to Dr. Steve Kaplan of Crossroads Chiropractic Center to address the problem and restore their health in Bellevue, WA.

The cause of lower back pain is usually a muscle, nerve, ligament or spinal injury, such as the ones that occur during auto accidents. Additionally, poor posture and degenerative diseases can also lead to pain. This is because poor posture can accelerate wear and tear on the spine during movements, while degenerative diseases, such as arthritis, can cause structures in the spine to break down and put pressure on the spinal cord or nerves. Nerve pressure in the lumbar spine can then cause pain and symptoms to spread from the back to the buttocks, legs and feet because the nerves that exit the lumbar spine travel to these areas.

If a patient is experiencing lower back pain, they do not have to resort to surgery or rely heavily on pain medication for relief. At Crossroads Chiropractic Center, many patients find that their pain can be effectively treated through chiropractic practices, including adjustments and spinal decompression. These methods can alleviate tension, relieve pain and help restore proper movement.

Those in Bellevue, WA experiencing lower back pain turn to Dr. Steve Kaplan for the treatment they need. To schedule an appointment at Crossroads Chiropractic Center, call 425-746-7841. For more information on the chiropractor and his services, please visit www.crossroadschiropracticinc.com.
